Sarawak Food

Mee Suah (面线 with chicken soup is an auspicious dish in many Foochow family.  Always have it on the 1st day of Chinese New Year due to the implications of longevity.  My mum's mee suah is the best.

里头有各种各样的水果,日本海蜇,花生,芝麻等等, 最后淋上酱汁就可以捞啊!

LAT's Place @ Puteri Habour, JB

We reached Puteri Habour at around 1pm plus and we want or have our lunch quickly before we visit Hello Kitty Town.  We found this interesting LAT's Place Restaurant. 
LAT's Place is a unique animated themed restaurant, opened in Feb 2013 at Puteri Harbour Family Theme Park in Nusajaya, Johor.  Interior designed in typical Malaysian Kampung surroundings with attap kampung houses and paper trees. The lights there also changes to night time, fireflies and daybreak. There was storytelling too and the food there such as the fried rice and ayam pencik was nice.

Hello Kitty Town, JB

Hello Kitty Town Malaysia located at Puteri Harbour Indoor Family Theme Park Nusajaya Johor was opened on 26th October 2012.  It is an indoor theme park.
We got to see Hello Kitty's house including the living room, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen.

It has a lot of activities that are suitable for young kids.

Macarons from Ladurée, Paris

Last December 2012 holiday we went to Paris.  The Tour guide told us that the famous and expensive Macaroons in Paris is from Ladurée and its a must try.  Altogether, they have more than 30 over flavors.  The Macaroons is much nicer than the macaroons we have tried in Singapore.  It is worth it even though it is pricey.

“撈起魚生” 這個名稱,又有「風生水起」及「越撈越旺」的意頭, 是馬來西亞及新加坡過農曆新年時賀年食品。

撈起魚生的材料包括魚生、生菜絲、紅和白蘿蔔絲、薑絲, 生油, 花生碎, 柚子, 等。。。,醬料以酸梅膏加桔子汁添糖水調成。做法首先是將各材料逐一加到碟上,每加一樣材料,都要說一句吉祥話。當所有材料加好後,圍桌的所有人就會拿起筷子,把所有材料撈在一起,同時說「撈起撈起」, 发! 发! 发!

Crispy Carb Sticks

Chinese New Year is around the corner.  Started with the easiest goodies and also my children favourite - Crab stick.  This year i got a very good helper - my eldest daughter as she is on holiday and waiting for school posting to JC.

It's crispy. It feels very empty inside though but the sugar and cinnamon coated outside gives the churros a nice taste.

Nian Gao Taro Rolls

Instead of frying nian gao with egg and with sweet potato, I found a new  recipe from Wendy's blog and tried it out.  I wrapped the nian gao with taro in popiah skins and fried it like how I fry spring rolls.  It turns out amazingly good.
