Kaastengels itself is a traditional cookie of Netherlands (Dutch). It is a saltish cookie with very strong cheese taste and fragrance.
Ingredient:-
125g unsalted butter
100g Edam cheese, grated
200g flour (I use top flour)
Topping:-
1 egg yolks mix with 1 tbsp cookie glaze
50g of grated cheddar cheese
Method:-
- Preheat oven 125C
- In a mixing bowl, whisk butter on low speed for abt 5 mins or till blended and light.
- Add cheese in 3 additions, mix well.
- Add flour in a few additions
- Roll your dough and press it. Cut into rectangle.
- Brush surface with egg yolk mixture, sprinkle with grated cheddar cheese.
- Bake for 20mins or until brown.
